The Tensioneer was developed to ensure that elevator leg belts have the correct tension needed for optimal performance; thus eliminating belt slippage, bearing overload, belt stretching, splice pullout, belt failure and lag damage.
An UNDER-TENSIONED belt will slip on the head pulley, reducing the friction, and possibly shortening belt and lagging life. An OVER-TENSIONED belt, on the other hand, puts additional stress on the leg and boot shafts - and can lead to bearing and splice failure.
